The Griffin Grind is brought to you by the Isabella Rose Foundation and the IRF Team Isabella Running Club in conjunction with its main sponsor the Griffin Inn.
The race is a 5 mile road race and fun run which is fully marshalled on closed roads in St Helens Merseyside WA10 5AD.
This race is back for the 6th time, has proven popular amongst the local community bringing in Elite Runners for the local running clubs along side an expanding group of fun runners.
There is also a kids 1k dash.
All 5 mile runners receive a medal, T Shirt and a goody bag.
Timing is provided by TDL.
The top three Female and Male runners receive a special trophy.
The Female and Male Winners receive a £100 voucher for Made to Run Running Shop.
The race starts and finishes on the field adjacent to our main sponsors The Griffin Inn WA10 5AD. It leaves the field turning onto Knowsley Road before you take a left up the long and steep Burrows Lane. At the top of Burrows Lane you take a left along Prescott road up towards the Carmel College, continue along the road until you take a left down Dunriding Lane. You then approach the home straight with a left back onto Knowsley road then back to the finish line.
The route historically was a pub crawl taking in 5 pubs in 5 miles. Starting and finishing at the Griffin Inn. This eventually became a run / pub crawl but disappeared some time ago, nobody knows why it started or why it finished but locally everybody claims to have run it when they were younger with many stating very confidentially that they actually won it!
The Griffin Grind is certainly written in the local folklore and is worthy of its legendary status.
In 2015 the Isabella Rose Foundation brought the run back and has seen it grow each year.
This year is promising to be the very best yet, we hope you can join us.
After all your hard work you can then join us for a family fun day at the Griffin Inn.
This is a fabulous day which will include stalls and games for the children inc beat the goalie and a bouncy castle, BBQ, darts competition, poker competition and live music
